Project Profile
There was no potshell repair facility completed during the main project, so in 2019 an existing fab shop previously known as NRSB was expanded into a dedicated potshell lining and de-lining facility. The project involved a design build for the base building and an engineered plant process system. Tusk Automation was involved in the project and assisted in the design and supply of the process control system, steam heat trace system, and motor control.
Our scope included 300HP soft starters, ControlLogix PLC, Stratix networking, EthernetIP E300 motor controllers, Protection and Control panel, and a suite of process instrumentation.
Tusk Automation field services, tested and commissioned the facility and provided support for the EPCM’s engineering team. We also assisted in the programming and testing of the complete system. A key issue was that the end users standardized ad-on instructions had been developed for obsolete hardware leading to challenges in adapting them to EthernetIP enabled devices. Tusk was instrumental in adapting the logic and firmware to support the new products.
