To ensure a continuous fuel supply to the generator, the day tank needed to be integrated with the bulk storage tank. However, generator usage and fuel consumption would vary greatly depending on the weather since the system was primarily solar. The maintenance team for the generator was located 4-5 hours away and had no way of knowing the status of the fuel system or when to reorder fuel.
Tusk designed and manufactured a control and fuel transfer system using a Siemens Microcontroller, Siemens Comfort touchscreen display, a new fuel transfer pump, and tank level monitoring. The control system provides remote access for maintenance staff to monitor and control live values such as the levels of the day tank and storage tank through the SmartServer functionality of the Siemens HMI.
