Develop and implement a reliable process control system for a remote mine water treatment plant in the Yukon, ensuring seamless automation, real-time monitoring, and long-term operational support.

Solution:

Tusk Automation was initially contracted to design and supply all motor control and automation hardware for the facility. When unexpected personnel changes left the client without the necessary expertise to complete programming and integration, Tusk stepped in to ensure the project stayed on schedule and within budget.

  • Process Control Narrative Development – Refined the control philosophy to optimize automation sequences, alarms, and interlocks for reliable plant operation.
  • Control System Architecture – Designed a robust automation framework, integrating Rockwell’s Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk platforms to enable seamless operation.
  • Full-System Programming – Completed the programming and commissioning of the plant’s control system, ensuring smooth startup and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Remote Monitoring & Data Logging – Implemented remote HMI access, real-time trending, and automated reporting to provide operators with critical insights.
  • Ongoing Instrumentation Calibration & Maintenance – Provides regular servicing of instrumentation to ensure accurate data collection and long-term system reliability.
