Tusk Automation was responsible for designing, supplying, and integrating a fiber optic ring network. The project's success depended on a scalable design that could be quickly deployed to adapt to changes in the mining environment but could also remain active if power cables were damaged for up to 2hrs.
The system provided a critical safety data infrastructure in an underground mine and required dual input power supplies from a 208V distribution system. Additionally, it needed POE+ for wireless access points, quick-connect cabling systems for fiber, copper, and power connections. The field nodes needed to be lightweight to allow for deployment by two miners in an emergency to replace damaged equipment.
Tusk Automation's design met all of the project requirements and provided a reliable and robust wireless network to support the mine's critical operations.
